Fans of Destiny 2 have found themselves facing off against more Tormentors thanks to the release of the game's free Into the Light update, and an incredible clip recently shared by a fan of the game demonstrates how Tormentors are fully capable of denying a Guardian's super ability at even the most unexpected moments. These mammoth foes have proven to be among the most dangerous adversaries that Destiny 2 players have ever faced, and they're now making frequent appearances in Onslaught, Pantheon, and Nightfall activities.
First introduced to the game with last year's Lightfall expansion for Destiny 2, Tormentors are huge, scythe-wielding monstrosities which feature a range of genuinely dangerous abilities. They initially engage Guardians by hurling damaging projectiles from afar and occasionally launching a fast dive attack which briefly suppresses the abilities of all Guardians in the impact zone, and they take considerably reduced damage unless players target one of their few weak spots – their shoulders. Once their shoulder pads are destroyed, though, they enter a frenzied and much more aggressive state, where they'll actively chase players and physically seize them with an ability called Dark Harvest.

Given that Destiny 2's Gambit mode is likely going to be receiving its final update soon, perhaps it's time for the new Onslaught mode to replace it.
Players are almost completely helpless in this state, and are completely unable to move or retaliate as their health is drained away. One awesome clip recently shared online by a player known as iAMiSlays shows how their super gets completely denied by a Tormentor using this ability during a surprise heatwave in Destiny 2's new Onslaught mode, where players are challenged with destroying as many Tormentors as possible within a limited time period. While launching into the air with their Thundercrash super and directing themselves at a nearby Tormentor, the player in the clip is instantly snatched by another one behind them, denying the super completely.
While this particularly unlikely example does make for an impressive moment, it's worth remembering that super abilities don't mean much to Tormentors that are going on a rampage with Dark Harvest. As the clip demonstrates, they're fully capable of canceling a Guardian's super ability, and so Destiny 2 players making use of close-range roaming supers such as Burning Maul need to be especially wary of being grabbed.
Quite a few Destiny 2 players have shared some similarly awesome moments that have played out while facing a Tormentor, and despite them being one of the most dangerous enemies to fight, Tormentors have been widely praised by fans due to the challenge and complexity they bring to combat encounters. Players hoping to see more enemy types of this nature added to the game in the future are in luck, as the new Dread race coming with Destiny 2's upcoming Final Shape expansion looks to be a big step forward for enemy variety.
